Why a surprise? If you really want to improve karting, especially at club level, and keep costs down then it makes good sense to work with people who have taken different routes. With DRS you are restricted to one chassis and engine and also restricted on parts you can change which means that the driver has to make the difference rather than the chequebook. They have also looked at club100 - great arrive and drive series where the karts are as even as possible and CoC decision is final - no cheque book appeals up to a national court. Why not have that at club level and only have the appeal system for national championships?
