Track Re-surfacing: About 40% of the track was re-surfaced in July and the September meeting was the first opportunity to try it out. We have put in three Alfano strips and a new timing loop.  Interestingly, the TKM lap records were smashed on the new surface.

Shenington SuperPrix 2010 details: Results Page, Picture Gallery for the Historic Revival, celebrating Shenington KRC's 50th Anniversary on 18 - 20 June 2010

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Warwickshire Northamptonshire Air Ambulance www.wnaa.co.uk collection at the September 2010 meeting.  Along with the Charity GP at Mr Karting, Leamington Spa, a total of £2300 was raised.
Shenington participated in National Motorsports Week during the practice days on 12 & 14 August 2010, and raceday on 15 August.
The purpose of National Motorsport Week (7th – 15th August) is to promote and inspire the excitement of motorsport to new audiences, and to generate more interest, more spectators, more competitors, more jobs, more marshals and more officials. The week is an initiative from the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), Motor Sports Association (MSA) and the Motorsport Foundation, which generates funds for good causes to develop the UK motorsport industry and the sport.  Shenington held a special display of the Lets Go Karting £5 taster session equipment for kids and launched its own scheme of taster sessions for senior / adult drivers, which will cost £55 for three track sessions.

Annual General Meeting: A disappointing turn-out for the AGM on 4th May 2010, the committee hopes that means all 300 members are very happy with the club management.  All members were sent the 2009 accounts summary.  The committee were re-elected plus Steve Weatherhead as a new committee member, and noted that Chris Smith resigned as a director in February.  Mike Coombs has been re-elected as Club Chairman, all other details at foot of this page.

Awards Evening 2009:  The 2009 Awards and dinner was held at the Manor House Hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh on Saturday 30th January 2010 with a Venetian masked ball theme for the evening, along with a string quartet and free champagne on arrival.  A magician entertained the guests and later the casino opened, with all proceeds donated to the Oxfordshire Air Ambulance, with £305 raised.  For what is thought to be the first time ever, the secret vote for the Driver of the Year resulted in a tie between Junior TKM rivals Oliver Hodgson and Ashley Jones, who will share the trophy.  The MSA's Chief Executive Colin Hilton kindly handed out the trophies, and he was accompanied by his wife Barbara who received a bouquet from club chairman Mike Coombs, see picture to left. The Lady Driver of the Year award went to Jade Sheppard, and the Junior Clubman (someone who puts effort back into the club) was awarded to Travis Kirk.  The Most Promising awards went to Lee Harrison (Junior TKM), Matthew George (Junior Max), Guy Perry (MiniMax), Matthew Harris (TKM Exreme), Louis Wall (Gearbox), Alfie Brown (Cadet) and James Peace (Junior).  The class winners and Lady Driver of the Year are shown below.

KF Winter Series 2009/10 & ABkC O Plate for 2010 finalised: It has not been possible to replace the cancelled round therefore the co-ordinator has declared that the KF Winter Series, organised by SKRC, is complete and the points are provisional final as KF1 Points, KF2 Points, KF3 Points.  Congratulations to the winners and new O Plate holders Mark Litchfield, Jake Lloyd and Jake Dennis. The awards and trophies will be presented at the Nutts Corner Super One round.

Shenington KRC regrets that the weekend meeting on 9/10 January 2010 was postponed due to a large amount of frozen snow. We apologise to all our customers. Shenington Club Championship 2010 - After consultation with members at the February round, it has been decided that the postponed January meeting will now be held on 30/31 October, for which MSA approval has been given.  There will also be a Thursday test day on 28th October, during the school holiday week. A championship bulletin has been issued.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for an excellent season in 2010:  The 2009 Winter Newsletter and all entry and membership forms have now been posted to all members.  If you don't receive them for any reason they can all be downloaded from this website.  You will notice that members practice fees and entry fees have had to be increased for the first time in four years, and even between 2005 and 2006 there was only a £2 hike in the entry fee.  This regrettable increase became inevitable what with the return to 17.5% VAT for 2010 and other supplier cost increases (to some extent the 15% saved us in 2009) and remember that all profits are ploughed back into the circuit.  For instance we have to save up funds for track re-surfacing and so on.  We think our fees still offer great value for money, especially the Winter 100 and the Super Prix entries.  So we hope having to fork out an extra £10 per weekend is not too much of a burden, and thank everyone for their support in 2009, and wish you all a great sporting 2010.

Ace of Clubs 2009: Commiserations to our Ace of Clubs team, who came fourth at Whilton Mill on 30th August, many thanks for supporting the club and doing your best, better luck next year.  Thanks to team captain Richard Lloyd for organisation.

Dinner & 2008 Awards Evening was held at the Manor House Hotel, Moreton-in-Marsh, on Saturday 31st January 2009.  One hundred and forty guests enjoyed a free drink and string quartet on arrival, followed by the buffet, Casino, and Chris Hodgett's live band.  TKM Exreme driver Daniel Graham was voted Driver of the Year (pictured left), Danny Keirle Most Promising Junior and Lady Driver of the Year went to Kasia Nicklin.  The MSA's Cheryl Lynch handed out the special awards.

2009 Calendar: Club meetings will be held on the third Sunday of the month from January to November with the 12th round held on 5/6 December.  The first week-day Thursday test day is on 15th January, to suit the KF Winter Series entrants, with another on the 19th February during the school holiday week.  The February meeting in 2009 had to be cancelled due to the snow cover in the paddock, so the Winter Series will now count over only two rounds, and the main club championship will count 9 best scores out of 11 meetings as per 1.7.2 in the regs.

Your committee's meeting:
Ever wondered what the committee discuss at their monthly meetings?  Well, currently the following topics are under discussion:-
The committee realise that we will have to work hard to promote the club this year, as the general decline in karting starts to bite.  You too can do your part by joining the club as soon as possible and encouraging your friends to do likewise.
We are working with Warwickshire College to help train student marshals, as part of their course.  They helped at the Super One and Stars meetings.
Track re-surfacing which cost over £40,000 plus VAT and was done in late July.  We will put in some extra timing strips at the same time.
Renewal of bark in the run-off bark traps, and tyres for some of the barriers.  200 car race slicks have just been delivered and are being used at the side of the straight up to the Stratford hairpins.
The Noise Meter official's post and the Stratford marshal's post have both been re-built over the Xmas period..
We are concerned to hear that some local hotels and guest houses put their prices up on our big championship weekends.  They might be struck off our recommended accommodation lists, and prices withdrawn.
Promotion of karting at local clubs & groups, seeking new drivers and officials.  We are actively seeking primary schools in the area to give out the DVD's and brochures, with hopefully a talk about our sport.
Monthly financial report and review of invoices to be paid.  The annual profit for the club was revealed by the Treasurer and the accounts will now go to the Auditors for preparation of the official accounts.
The British Pedal Car Championship used the circuit in May and were very pleased with our facilities.  They have asked to come back next year.
Track management & safety is always on the agenda.
We will have two Super 1 meetings and a Stars round again in 2007.
We are planning for a purchase of the SuperSports Tempus timing system (ERS results) by the end of 2006 and will be putting up larger start lights.
Toilet & Shower opening times: Clubhouse toilets & shower will be closed between 2315 & 0715 but will not be open evenings of or prior to mid-week testing, although the old toilets will be.

Race Track and banks: Please note the club is now enforcing the rule that there is no access to the race track without official permission, even after racing or practising is finished. This is because of complaints from the glider club of children throwing stones over the banks onto the glider club runways and equipment. Please do not allow your children to go onto the race circuit at any time, no cycling, playing etc. Drivers may walk round the circuit before practise or racing.

Perimeter Gate: Please note that the outside gate is locked between 11 pm and 7 am on race weekends.  But it is locked with a stout chain to allow room for pedestrians to gain access after locking up time.

Pictures from the 2005 SuperPrix and Gearbox O Plate  event are here (caution, lots of pics, big file) and Chris Walker's are here.

For details of historic karts see VINTAGEKARTSUK , ClassicKartsUK and the Historic & Classic Kart Club site.

The committee hasn't had much response from the village so has decided to send the £70 raised for charity, from the use of the Vision Racers kindly lent my Matthew Sherwen, to the local Air Ambulance.

Annual General Meeting: The AGM was held on Saturday 8th April at 5.30 p.m. at the circuit. The 2005 committee was re-elected and comprises: Lesley Allen, Mark Allen, Boyd Barrington, Tony Bury, Mike Coombs, Peter Cox, Sonja Game, Paul Klaassen, Richard Lloyd, Bryan Riman, Chris Smith, Graham Smith, Andrew Tonks, Simon Walker
