Welcome to the Shenington Kart Racing Circuit website - Home of the Shenington Kart Racing Club!

Latest news will appear here.
We plan to purchase the SuperSports ERS Tempus timing system by the end of the season, funds permitting.  This should be of great benefit to the club members and guests, being able to bring up various statistics on www.karting.co.uk website.

2005 Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 8th April 2006 and the 2005 committee was re-elected.  There were no new nominations.

King of Clubs Meeting: Congratulations to Richard Lloyd and our team at Whilton Mill who achieved a magnificent five Ace of Club class wins. Unfortunately we were only fourth in the overall standings, but well done to all involved.

Track Re-surfacing: About 40% of the track was re-surfaced in July and the September meeting will be the first opportunity to try it out. We have put in three Alfano strips and a new timing loop.

Newsletter: The Summer issue of the Shenington Exhaust has been handed out to all club member competitors in May, and was posted to all other club members.

SuperPrix and Shenington Revival Meeting celebrating 50 years of kart racing: 16/17/18th June.
Our premier club meeting of the year where there is something for everyone from the Saturday evening pig roasts and bar, DJ, bucking bronco, raffle, vision racer games to historic kart displays - 117 historic karts and about 200 ex drivers visited the circuit.  A fantastic weekend with beautiful  hot sunny weather.  See the pictures of the historic karts here.  2007 Pics here http://chris6574.mediaobjects.co.uk:80/c1319207.html

Your committee's meeting:
Ever wondered what the committee discuss at their monthly meetings?  Well, currently the following topics are under discussion:-
The committee realise that we will have to work hard to promote the club this year, as the general decline in karting starts to bite.  You too can do your part by joining the club as soon as possible and encouraging your friends to do likewise.
We are working with Warwickshire College to help train student marshals, as part of their course.  They helped at the Super One and Stars meetings.
Track re-surfacing which cost over £40,000 plus VAT and was done in late July.  We will put in some extra timing strips at the same time.
Renewal of bark in the run-off bark traps, and tyres for some of the barriers.  200 car race slicks have just been delivered and are being used at the side of the straight up to the Stratford hairpins.
The Noise Meter official's post and the Stratford marshal's post have both been re-built over the Xmas period..
We are concerned to hear that some local hotels and guest houses put their prices up on our big championship weekends.  They might be struck off our recommended accommodation lists, and prices withdrawn.
Promotion of karting at local clubs & groups, seeking new drivers and officials.  We are actively seeking primary schools in the area to give out the DVD's and brochures, with hopefully a talk about our sport.
Monthly financial report and review of invoices to be paid.  The annual profit for the club was revealed by the Treasurer and the accounts will now go to the Auditors for preparation of the official accounts.
The British Pedal Car Championship used the circuit in May and were very pleased with our facilities.  They have asked to come back next year.
Track management & safety is always on the agenda.
We will have two Super 1 meetings and a Stars round again in 2007.
We are planning for a purchase of the SuperSports Tempus timing system (ERS results) by the end of 2006 and will be putting up larger start lights.
Toilet & Shower opening times: Clubhouse toilets & shower will be closed between 2315 & 0715 but will not be open evenings of or prior to mid-week testing, although the old toilets will be.

Race Track and banks: Please note the club is now enforcing the rule that there is no access to the race track without official permission, even after racing or practising is finished. This is because of complaints from the glider club of children throwing stones over the banks onto the glider club runways and equipment. Please do not allow your children to go onto the race circuit at any time, no cycling, playing etc. Drivers may walk round the circuit before practise or racing.

Perimeter Gate: Please note that the outside gate is locked between 11 pm and 7 am on race weekends.  But it is locked with a stout chain to allow room for pedestrians to gain access after locking up time.

Pictures from the 2005 SuperPrix and Gearbox O Plate  event are here (caution, lots of pics, big file) and Chris Walker's are here.

For details of historic karts see VINTAGEKARTSUK , ClassicKartsUK and the Historic & Classic Kart Club site.

The committee hasn't had much response from the village so has decided to send the £70 raised for charity, from the use of the Vision Racers kindly lent my Matthew Sherwen, to the local Air Ambulance.

Annual General Meeting: The AGM was held on Saturday 8th April at 5.30 p.m. at the circuit. The 2005 committee was re-elected and comprises: Lesley Allen, Mark Allen, Boyd Barrington, Tony Bury, Mike Coombs, Peter Cox, Sonja Game, Paul Klaassen, Richard Lloyd, Bryan Riman, Chris Smith, Graham Smith, Andrew Tonks, Simon Walker

Shenington Kart Racing Circuit is one of the more popular in the UK, and hosts events for all of the ABkC classes. Based around Shenington Airfield this circuit is strikingly flat and offers good viewing facilities for spectators accompanied by good facilities including toilets and the obligatory café. Karting tuition is offered by Protrain and SRS Kart Schools. ARKS tests are also carried out by the club, contact Mark Allen (01295 678188) or Chris Smith (01608 737145). Spectators are admitted at £5 per car. The TrackTeach CD is available for sale from local traders at the circuit, or via this website:-

Prokarting and karting for Groups is available with Zone Motorsport, Tel 07968 582807 or email: Zone MotorSport

Formula Libre:- Regrettably we are not able to offer Formula Libre. We will accept ICA and 100 National if there are enough entries but will not accept the use of air-cooled engines in these classes because of the noise. However we will accept air-cooled engines on the test days. For 2005 we will offer Rotax Max/177 if there are enough entries. Summary of classes raced at Shenington.

There will be three heats (whenever possible - two in winter months) and a final.

Championship points will be awarded on class finishing position.
