Annual General Meeting 2007: The AGM will be held at the circuit on Saturday 17th May 2008 starting at 5.30 pm.  Please come and let the committee know what's good or not.  Nominations for the committee and agenda nominations need to be into the Secretary by 7th May.

Spellfame SuperPrix - 13 - 15 June: For those that haven't experienced one of Shenington's famous SuperPrix, now is your chance, and not to be missed.  This is the meeting for the club members, we try and give all the club members and guest drivers a really great weekend.  Friday practice day is open to all, but Saturday practice is only open to those entered for the SuperPrix as there will probably be some heats on Saturday afternoon.  We usually have a guest championship, this year it is the ABkC O Plate meeting for 250 National, KZ1 (Super ICC) and ICC UK (KZ2) for 125cc gearbox classes, really prestigious events for the gearbox fraternity.  The attractions include a pig roast and bar-b-q on Saturday evening (each competitor gets a free ticket, with the chance to buy more for friends and mechanics, at a very modest price), then there is a cash bar and a live band.  This year it is former Touring Car champion Chris Hodgett's Rev Limits band, and those that heard him last year will know just how good they are.  Then the British Historic Kart Club makes the SuperPrix their main event of the year, the Shenington Revival Meeting.  Some 120 historic karts will be on display in a large marquee, with many of them taking to the track for demonstration runs.  As much as anything it is the social aspects of this meeting, with friendships rekindled over the decades since the first meeting at Shenington in 1960.  The historic club also has a bring and buy sale, and members are often selling and buying karts from yesteryear, so if you want to get back to your roots, this is the place to be.  The historic karts will be on track at Friday and Saturday lunchtime and after practice is over, and on Sunday lunchtime. A YouTube video of the 2007 event is further down the page.  On Sunday we shall have the well-known Ken Walker as commentator.  Other attractions are a bucking bronco for the kids and the young at heart, and hopefully a F1 simulator.  Now for prizes - the club classes will be competing for Spellfame vouchers for £75 first, £50 second and £25 third, whilst in the O Plate classes a set of tyres will be raffled to those attending prizegiving, rather than just a prize to the winner.  As can be seen, our title sponsor is Spellfame karting, for which the club gives many thanks.  And all competitors will receive a free hat, with the SuperPrix motif.

Ace of Clubs Meeting: Richard Lloyd, Shenington team manager, is on the look out for club members to represent SKRC at Whilton Mill's Ace / King of Clubs event.  Richard can be contacted at Spellfame Karting.

CCTV is on order:  The club has decided to invest in a CCTV system to aid the Clerk of the Course in judicial decisions on driving incidents.  It is expected to be installed over the summer.

Lets Go Karting: Shenington has selected for one of the club places on the MSA sponsored scheme to give youngsters a chance to try a race kart for the sum of only £5.  We expect to start up on 17 June, and run on Tuesday evenings once a month, with extra days in the summer holidays.  If anyone would like to come along and help the committee volunteers please make contact with the secretary.  We have invested in two brand new Cadet karts fitted with Honda GX120 engines, and are looking to purchase two second hand Comer S60 karts for the older youngsters.  All racewear will be provided.

Fire Extinguishers: Could all competitors please ensure they have a working fire extinguisher at the race meetings in accordance with regulations, minimum size 55B but better to be 70B minimum.  Also please acquaint yourselves with the nearest firepoint in the paddock where large fire extinguishers may be found.
(If you need a fire extinguisher for the next meeting, Spellfame will take pre-orders, but they will not otherwise be stocking them, so please do be sure you have one if you want to avoid penalties.)

KF Winter Series: Points and prizes for KF1, KF2, KF3 with rounds held at Shenington, PFI and Rowrah

CHANGE OF DATE FOR LAST MEETING IN THE YEAR: At the request of the KartMania show organiser the club has agreed to change the date of the last meeting from 29/30 November to 6/7 December.  Please note all the calendars in the Club Membership Handbook and the Club Programmes now require updating.

KF Club Racing:  Be aware that SKRC is offering KF2 and KF3 club races during 2008, should there be sufficient entries for a meeting.

PIT-SPACES: Could visitors to the club please respect the pit spaces that are booked for the year by the club members. If in doubt, look at the notice boards in the paddock to see which are occupied.  The owner of the pit-space always has precedence up to 0915 on Sunday morning.  Please note that if a pit bay holder is not using the pit bay for a race weekend, if they inform Track Manager Peter Cox the club will attempt to sell the space for £20 for the weekend and if sold, give a £10 discount voucher to be used against a test day in the future.  Vacant pit spaces can be pre-booked for a weekend at £20 by contacting Peter Cox on 07770 866006 or 01295 257674 (evening) and at reasonable times.

WiFi Broadband Internet Access: As part of the continuing service to our customers / club members / drivers we have now made available WiFi access in the paddock.  It covers approx 40% of the paddock at the moment and we hope to extend that in due course.  In due course we will have live timing available and webcam(s).  Please do not abuse the facility with over-use (eg gaming) or we may have to put on password protection.  Just treat the free internet access with respect, thank-you.

2008 Calendar: Club meetings will be held on the third Sunday of the month from January to November with the 12th round held on 6/7 December (NOTE CHANGE OF DATE).  The first week-day Thursday test day has been changed to 14th February, to suit the KF Winter Series entrants, with another on the 21st February during the school holiday week.  Full race calendar download.

Please put your entries in ON TIME!  At a recent meeting there were 176 sent on time and 64 AFTER the closing date.  Remember we are allowed to charge £10 for late entries. 

Note to all commercial teams: Please remember that after 1st July all commercial awnings and team vehicles MUST display appropriate No Smoking signs as required by law.  Checks will be made

ROTAX MAX DD2: The club welcome DD2 at our test days but please note all DD2 karts must practice in the gearbox sessions.   Our insurance does not permit us to mix gearbox and direct-drive and because the MSA recognise DD2 as a gearbox category, they must therefore set their gearing for the long circuit and practise accordingly with 125 ICC etc.  IF there is sufficient demand we can consider a race as they are already referenced in our SRs.

SHENINGTON KRC LTD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The 2006 AGM was held on 19th May and no vote was necessary for election of the 2007 committee.  Andy Tonks has resigned whilst Steve Isham has put himself forward, meaning that your 2007 committee is Lesley Allen (Pit Space Mgr), Mark Allen, Boyd Barrington (Vice-Chairman), Tony Bury, Mike Coombs (Chairman), Peter Cox, Sonja Game (Comp Sec), Paul Klaassen, Richard Lloyd, Bryan Riman (Treasurer), Chris Smith (Advertising Mgr), Graham Smith (Secretary), Simon Walker, Tom Whitehouse and Steve Isham. Thanks to all who attended the AGM. Note Steve Isham has since resigned as a committee member.

MSA Club Development Fund Grant: Shenington Kart Racing Club is pleased and delighted to announce it has been awarded a grant of £500 from the MSA Club Development fund to assist in the purchase of the new timing systems and £2500 towards the track resurfacing.  The Committee has thanked the MSA and Fund for their generosity.

Please note—reluctantly we can no longer accept used tyres. Too many people from all over were using our facility, not just club members. So it is exclusion for anyone dumping tyres at Sheni from now on.

We have had delivery of the SuperSports ERS Tempus timing system so all meetings from now on will sport the ERS+ results on www.karting.co.uk .  This should be of great benefit to the club members and guests, being able to bring up various statistics on www.karting.co.uk website.  Yet another update and improvement from your favourite club. Remember all profits are put back into the club facilities.

Membership, practice and race entry fees will be unchanged in 2008, same as 2007, same as 2006.

 

Special Offer for 2008:
Take your ARKS test with one of our Club Examiners (Chris Smith or Mark Allen) and join the club and you will receive ONE FREE RACE ENTRY in 2008.

Race Track and banks: Please note the club is now enforcing the rule that there is no access to the race track without official permission, even after racing or practising is finished. This is because of complaints from the glider club of children throwing stones over the banks onto the glider club runways and equipment. Please do not allow your children to go onto the race circuit at any time, no cycling, playing etc. Drivers may walk round the circuit before practise or racing.

Perimeter Gate: Please note that the outside gate is locked between 11 pm and 7 am on race weekends.  But it is locked with a stout chain to allow room for pedestrians to gain access after locking up time.

Toilet & Shower opening times: Clubhouse toilets & shower will be closed between 2315 & 0715 but will not be open evenings of or prior to mid-week testing, although the old toilets will be.

2005 Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 8th April 2006 and the 2005 committee was re-elected.  There were no new nominations.  The 2006 committee members are Mike Coombs (Chairman), Graham Smith (Secretary), Sonja Game (Competition Secretary), Bryan Riman (Treasurer), Chris Smith (Vice-Chairman, Programme advertising), Lesley Allen (Membership Secretary), Boyd Barrington, Mark Allen, Richard Lloyd, Tom Whitehouse, Tony Bury, Simon Walker (Chief Marshal), Paul Klaassen, Peter Cox, Andy Tonks.

Shenington Kart Racing Circuit is one of the more popular in the UK, and hosts events for all of the ABkC classes. Based around Shenington Airfield this circuit is strikingly flat and offers good viewing facilities for spectators accompanied by good facilities including toilets and the obligatory café. Karting tuition is offered by Protrain and SRS Kart Schools. ARKS tests are also carried out by the club, contact Mark Allen (01295 678188) or Chris Smith (01608 737145).
